Feminist Poetry: Don't Forget HIS Safe Words

It’s painful to look at the truth of male supremacy and male violence. That’s why many women and girls end up in denial. I too have been there and work to constantly challenge the ways males attempt to destabilize my critical thinking skills to preserve their entitlement.

When a woman tries to call you “oppressive” for naming the oppressor, don’t debate. She is entrenched in propaganda and denial. She’s not ready to engage in the learnings of radical feminism. Focus on the women and girls open to learning, growth, and change. Defensiveness to radical feminist thought can point to a woman operating out of a denial trauma response. It’s essential to hold boundaries to preserve your stability and your work as a community organizer or online organizer. Find your people. And for loved ones who refuse to listen, reconfigure those relationships in ways that maintain your peace of mind. I’m learning the power of this each and every day.
