Dora Moono Nyambe built a community to protect girls from male violence. She was a freedom fighter working to dismantle child marriage. She created feminist media that was broadcasted the world over, raising awareness about the prevalence of female children being raped by adult men. She provided children housing, education, medical care, and other resources to combat the forces of male supremacy. She was a mother to the children in her care. She spread connection and hope to women and girls everywhere.

Dora Moono Nyambe’s power and influence was threatening to men around her. Men routinely tried to break in and rape girls in Nyambe’s community. The called her “witch”; a common tactic used worldwide to force women to comply to male supremacy. Nyambe’s loved ones know she was assassinated and fight for justice.

I remember Dora Moono Nyambe and the power of truth tellers.
