Thinking of Caroline Darian, Gisele Pélicot, and the rest of their family right now as they stand up and fight back against their abusers. Women and girls are continually put in positions where they must share the most traumatic experiences of their lives in a desperate attempt to be believed, to reach for justice, to challenge misplaced shame and blame. These are the consequences of living in a rape culture created by male supremacists. When will the male demographic causing the majority of violence be named and held to account? Why does the burden fall on women like Gisele and Caroline to expose the violence and trauma inflicted by these male perpetrators? Centuries of female freedom fighters have put their lives on the line and will continue until all women and girls are free. When will we all stand up and fight back alongside them?

✍️ Journal Reflection Prompts:
How has the male supremacist hierarchical view of anti-female violence affected your perception of violence against women and girls?
How has it influenced your view of sexual violence?
How has it influenced your view of rape and how you define rape?
What issues, if any, do you see in the current legal definition(s) of rape within your country and in other countries?
Do you use self-doubt as a way to survive male violence and cruelty?
